About the Project

Introducing the Queensland First Nations Housing Design Guideline (QLDFNHDG). The QLDFNHDG is a First Nations-led initiative transforming how we think about housing in Queensland. The QLDFNHDG is a critical initiative to embed First Nations perspectives, knowledge systems and lived experience into the design of housing across Queensland.

What’s the Project?

The QLDFNHDG will provide high level principles, guidance and processes to support culturally responsive First Nations housing across Queensland, to ensure homes are:

  • Culturally Grounded: Respecting traditional knowledge systems and family structures.

  • Safe & Inclusive: Creating environments where people feel secure and seen.

  • Contextually Responsive: Addressing the unique needs of urban, regional, rural, and remote communities.
